"Wistful Wandering" a horizontal canvas print
After happening upon this rainy river delta by mistake, I realized how much I miss the impromptu adventures my husband and I used to share before kids. “Wistful Wandering” captures that feeling of unexpected beauty and a thoughtful wistfulness for the past.
From the artist: Our kids went to stay with their grandparents and we were alone for the first weekend since having them, celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary. Rain fell occasionally as we explored the land, following instincts long out of practice. While I missed my kids and felt wrong being without them, I also felt wistful for earlier days when we had this kind of freedom regularly—and didn’t even realize what a gift it was. I could breathe easier, I could follow my inclinations…and I could reconnect with younger versions of myself and my husband that I had forgotten existed.
“Wistful Wandering” is a gentle reminder that we exist as individuals beyond parenthood, a job, or whatever demands are being placed on us. That it is such a gift to remember the past and reconnect with part of ourselves.
This piece is printed on lovely, gallery-quality matte canvas with a giclée printer to show all the texture and vibrancy of its original. After being hand-cut in the studio, it will arrive unstretched in either a protective mailer or tube.
