From the ArtistFor me this painting is all about the sky: the sun breaking through those dramatic, dark rain clouds. My husband and I were alone for the first time since having kids and found this wonderful marsh where the grasses faded out into the waters and the distant hills rose up against an incredible sky. As the rain slowed to a stop and the sun broke through the clouds, I couldn’t help but feel uplifted and renewed. There was a piece of me needing that release of responsibility, the lightness and connection of being with someone I love. When I look at this painting, I see the bright hope of those moments in contrast to the heaviness we sometimes face.
